St. Lawrence University
St. Lawrence is a highly rated private university located in Canton, New York. It is a small institution with an enrollment of 2,365 undergraduate students. St. Lawrence runs one of the oldest first-year programs in the country, where freshman take a speaking, writing and research-intensive course with their dormmates during their first semester.The St. Lawrence Saints are members of the Liberty League in the NCAA Division III, and the school also has Division I hockey teams that compete in the ECAC Hockey conference. The university fields 32 varsity sports and more than 25 club and intramural teams, with 96 percent of the student body participating in athletic activities. St. Lawrence is considered a "walking campus," as most areas of the university are off-limits to motorized vehicles. The campus is close to the Adirondack Mountains, which offers students the opportunity to leave campus on personal and school-sponsored trips
